Who is eligible?
The Diabetic Wound Management course and DWC™ Certification Examination are designed and intended solely for health care professionals who currently hold a wound care certification from a nationally accredited program.
Applicants for the National Alliance of Wound Care's DWC™ Certification must meet all of the following criteria:
- National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC®) as a “WCC®” or Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®) as a "CWCN®", “CWON®” or "CWOCN®" or American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM®) as a "CWS®"
In addition:
- Current certification from the National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC®) as a "WCC®" or Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®) as a "CWCN®", "CWON®", or "CWOCN®" or American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM®) as a "CWS®"
- Active unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Physician or Physician Assistant
- Completion of application and required supporting documentation
- Payment of required fees
- Successful graduate of NAWC approved “Diabetic Wound Management Course”
*Active certification in basic wound care is required to retain the DWC credential. Should basic wound care certification lapse, NAWC reserves the right to revoke DWC credential immediately.

Registration includes NAWC exam fees, forms, tools for assessment and education, diabetic toolkit and practice foot.
