Older adults undergoing treatment for Covid-19 present with a higher incidence of skin integrity concern. This lecture will review and suggest best approaches to lowering the risk of new pressure ulcers and prevent worsening of existing pressure ulcers in patients who are either undergoing Covid-19 treatment of are at high risk.
 

About the Speaker:
Dr. Jean Cefalu is a full-time nurse practitioner in Geriatrics and Extended Care at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System—New Orleans. Dr. Cefalu has extensive experience in medical-surgical nursing, wound care, and geriatrics in acute, long-term care, and clinic settings as a nurse practitioner, director of nurses, educator, preceptor, and guest lecturer. Her research interests and publication areas include prevention and management of skin related issues in the older adult population, caring for people living with urinary and fecal diversions, and adult learning theory.
