At the end of life, malignant wounds are a source of distress because they are associated with a heavy symptom burden. Pain, odor, bleeding, and heavy exudate are common. This session will examine the pharmacological and wound care strategies used to manage the symptoms associated with malignant wounds at the end of life.
 

About the Speaker:
Joni Brinker is Clinical Nurse Educator for Optum Hospice Pharmacy Services where she provides clinical nursing guidance to pharmacists and nurses. She has been a Registered Nurse for more than 10 years with experience in acute care, long term care, and hospice. She later returned to school to receive her Master of Science degree in Nursing and Health Administration in 2014. A profound love of wound care motivated her to become Wound Care Certified through the Wound Care Education Institute. She recently co-authored the second edition of Wound Care at End of Life.
