Dramatically Improve Outcomes for Underserved Ostomy Patients

Each year thousands of people face life changing surgeries to correct gastrointestinal or urinary tract disorders. These individuals are from all age groups, and require trained professionals to help them successfully adapt to the unique concerns caused by these surgeries. An ostomy specialist is trained to understand both the physiological and emotional challenges people with stomas face on a daily basis.

The Ostomy Management Specialist (OMS)® certification is through the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy® (NAWCO).  NAWCO is accredited by the NCCA, ensuring that your certification meets modern standards of practice.  The OMS® certification is also magnet-recognized.

This rigorous week-long course prepares you for the certification exam. Instructors include a physician and nurses from diverse health care backgrounds, who are credentialed, dynamic and passionate about Ostomy Management.   Your path to certification begins with online modules. These in-depth and engaging modules teach the anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal and urinary systems, so that you begin the onsite class prepared for hands-on skills laboratories and practice sessions.
