Ostomy Accessories: What’s Available and How To Use Them

Purpose/goal: This 1-hour presentation will discuss & demonstrate the use and application of available ostomy accessory appliances. Focusing on new accessory product guideline changes and research to help achieve a leak proof seal and maintain peristomal skin health supplementing a better quality of life.

Target Audience: Nurses, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals interested in wound care. At the completion of this course, learners will be able to:
*Recommend two different products to improve adhesion of ostomy products.
*Summarize two different clinical application techniques to improve adhesion of ostomy products.
*Give examples of different peristomal planes that may benefit from convexity.
*Recall two of the characteristics of convexity as defined by the international consensus panel.
