Meet Our Wound Care Educators & Instructors

At WCEI®, we deliver world-class wound care training. Our top-notch, credentialed wound care instructors represent various health care disciplines and diverse settings, and they bring with them the most current educational research, materials and products from their own clinical practices and our programs.

Instructors adhere to the WCEI® teaching philosophy of: driving knowledge down to the bedside level; making wound care training accessible to all qualified health care professionals; and making the experience useful, practical, dynamic, interesting, fun and beneficial.
Ann Avery
Ann Avery RN, CWCN, LNC, WCC
Clinical Instructor
Ann has an extensive background in wound care education, wound program management and legal issues.  Her motivational teaching style delivers enhanced wound knowledge to health care professionals across the nation.

Joy Hooper
RN, BSN, CWOCN, OMS, WCC, AWCC
Clinical Instructor
As an RN with over 20 years of wound and ostomy care experience, Joy has practiced in a variety of hospital and home care settings. She is a successful nurse entrepreneur, and is board certified by the WOCNCB as a CWOCN, and by the NAWCO® as a WCC and OMS. Her informal and down-to-earth teaching methods enable students to learn easily in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Joy is the lead instructor of our Ostomy.

Mary Anne Dilloway
RN, BSN, WOCN

Mary Anne is a board certified wound, ostomy and continence nurse.  She graduated from Emory University School of Wound, Ostomy and Continence in Atlanta, Georgia.  She has lectured extensively on wound, ostomy and continence management.  Mary Anne has served as a consultant in wound care for acute care facilities, home care, long term care and industry.  Mary Anne was published in Critical Care Quarterly, Skin, Wounds and Beyond.  She received the award, Educator of the Year by the Pacific Coast Region of the WOCN.  Mary Anne has served on the Education Task force for PCR. She is currently employed at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

Becky Strilko

Becky has practiced as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse for over 25 years. She has been a board certified WOC nurse since the year 2000 in a variety of healthcare settings. She recently started her independent nurse consulting business. She is a published author in the Journal of Ostomy Wound Management. She has presented and authored numerous educational posters at national conferences on the topic of wound and ostomy care. Don Wollheim
MD, FAPWCA, WCC, DWC

Dr. Wollheim is Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is medical advisor and supervising provider for an outpatient multiplace hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic in Madison Wisconsin.  He has 25+ years of experience in general/vascular surgery and wound care, as well as extensive experience in medical-legal consulting and teaching college advance science courses.  His teaching style includes emphasizing the fundamental concepts of wound care, incorporating additional visual aids, and utilizing clinical scenarios during his presentations.  He is the lead instructor for the Diabetic Wound Certified® (DWC®) course and is also on the Editorial Advisory Boards of Wound Care Advisor and Wound Central® electronic journals. Allen Zagoren
DO, MPA, FACOS, FACN, WCC, FAPWCA
Clinical Instructor
Allen Zagoren DO, MPA, FACOS, FACN is board certified general trauma surgeon with specialties in critical care nutrition and chronic and acute wound management with over 40+ years of experience. He has served as the Medical Director for the Center for Advanced Wound care and the Wound Care Collaborative at Unity Point Health, Iowa Methodist Medical Center Des Moines, IA, Iowa, since 2003.
 
Dr Zagoren holds national prominence in his specialty areas with multiple published papers, texts, and book chapters.  He also holds adjunct academic appointments as Adjunct Professor of Surgery and Nutrition at Des  Moines University and as  a former Professor of Surgery and Nutrition, Assistant Dean of Research and  Clinical Affairs at Western University, Pomona California, and The University of Medicine and Dentistry  of New Jersey (New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine, UMDNJ, now Rowan University). Dr Zagoren is emeritus professor of Public Administration at Drake University with expertise in medical ethics and health policy.
