It's not IF you get called in to consult on an ostomy case − it's WHEN. In this session we will review basic ostomy assessment skills including patient positioning during assessment, management of the abdomen, and management of peristomal and stomal complications. We will also touch on what's new in Ostomy. This event will also include one-on-one time with industry experts and an opportunity to explore new product lines.
Target Audience: Nurses, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals interested in wound care.
About the Speaker:
Becky Strilko: Becky has practiced as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse for over 25 years. She has been a board certified WOC nurse since the year 2000 in a variety of healthcare settings. She recently started her independent nurse consulting business. She is a published author in the Journal of Ostomy Wound Management. She has presented and authored numerous educational posters at national conferences on the topic of wound and ostomy care. Becky is passionate about preventative care and improving the quality of life for patients and their families.
Joy Hooper: As an RN with over 20 years of wound and ostomy care experience, Joy has practiced in a variety of hospital and home care settings. She is a successful nurse entrepreneur, and is board certified by the WOCNCB as a CWOCN, and by the NAWCO® as a WCC and OMS. Her informal and down-to-earth teaching methods enable students to learn easily in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Joy is the lead instructor of our Ostomy.
