Webinar Description:
Legal aspects and documentation guidelines are discussed in detail.  This will cover what is needed to substantiate a legal case in wound care, and documentation guidelines to support that the standards of care and practice were met.  It will also cover forms such as care planning, risk scores, and how MDS affects billing.

Target Audience: Nurses, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals interested in wound care.

About the Speaker:
Tracy has been practicing wound care for the last 30 years. Tracy has practiced as a wound nurse in the acute care setting, long-term and assisted living, outpatient, and home care setting. Tracy owned and operated a very successful outpatient wound clinic. She is a board certified Legal Nurse Consultant and sits as an expert witness in wound care, long term care, skilled nursing facilities, etc. Tracy has been teaching wound care and legal documentation courses for the last 15 years. Tracy is a WCC and DWC.

  • Explain what 4 components must be in place for a legal case to proceed.
  • Explain what is the "Standard of Care."
  • Describe appropriate use of Skin Risk Assessment forms.
  • Describe how to write patient specific and reasonable goals for wound healing/correct use of care plans.
  • Describe how consistency of forms will ensure better healing rates and billing/reimbursement
  • Outline what to do for high-risk events, including what to put in a record or incident report, including physician notification.
